Group 5 Sports Cars, 1970-1971

​​Following the four years of Group 5 Special Touring Cars, the Group 5 Sports Car classification would allow constructors even more design freedom. Starting in 1970, any car built to compete in Group 5 did not need to be based on a touring car. Instead, it was to be built off of a sports car, meaning the car could be lower, wider, and much faster.
